Many nonprofits are so focused on the mission that they neglect the organization. Without a strong organization, a nonprofit cannot support its mission indefinitely.
NESC helps clients assess their organization’s strengths and weaknesses and take corrective action where necessary. Our assessments focus on two areas: Leadership and Resources:
Leadership
- Board of Directors – An engaged and effective board with the right mix of business and nonprofit skills.
- Management Culture – Defined roles and responsibilities with goals and plans in place.
- Performance Targets – Performance targets and a monitoring/measurement system.
Resources
- Finance – Effective budgeting and financial management procedures
- Staff/Volunteers – Defined roles and responsibilities and a volunteer recruiting plan
- Fundraising – A fundraising plan with clear roles and responsibilities
We work with you to determine your organization’s effectiveness in these areas. Depending on the organization, we may recommend developing a long-term strategic plan or a short-term action plan focused on a few key priorities.
