Testimonials: What Clients Say About NESC

The Board of Trustees was very pleased with the candidate that NESC located to fill the position of President. She had all the qualities and qualifications we had hoped for, and over the past year she has proven to be perfect for the position.

In 2007, when the Asia Society was looking for a new CFO, I turned to NESC for help. They gave me terrific advice and service from beginning to end. They not only helped me design the job description, but also challenged me to think about the characteristics needed in the ideal candidate. They presented me with a pre-selected set of candidates, almost all of whom would have been capable on the job. Our final choice, however, stood out above the selected few, and has proved to be a great addition to the organization. NESC saved the Asia Society a lot of time and trouble, and, in my view, provided their services on a very cost-effective basis.

Former Senior Vice President

The Salmagundi Club, a nonprofit club for artists and art patrons since 1871, sought the help of the National Executive Service Corps in developing plans for its growth in the 21st century and beyond. NESC called upon its volunteer consultants, former leaders of industry, to develop concepts for growth and a marketing plan to realize them. NESC is now working with the club to develop a social enterprise program to provide continual cash flow, enabling the club to continue fulfilling its mission.

Chairman

NESC recently completed a business plan for the introduction of a new service which represents an earned income opportunity, a subject of growing importance to the nonprofit community in the increasingly challenging economic and political environment. The objective of this innovative concept is to develop a new and consistent income stream which capitalizes on the unique capabilities of our IT Group and supports our primary mission -- helping the developmentally challenged.

This is the fifth consultancy NESC has conducted for Life’s WORC. Our productive and close working relationship started in 1999 and we expect to maintain it in the future, taking full advantage of the expertise NESC’s Long Island consultant base offers to us.

Executive Director/CEO

It was especially helpful to us, given the time constraints, that you were able to undertake this assignment and produce recommendations so quickly. Moreover, although the work was completed expeditiously, it was clear that your analysis was both thorough and thoughtful.

….We had the good fortune of discovering the high-caliber expertise and professional commitment that NESC offers to nonprofit organizations. The multi-faceted, seasoned team of professionals assigned to Cabrini’s branding project was fabulous. ….The team remained committed and focused from the inception of the project right down to executing the final details of perfecting our new image.

We use NESC for three reasons: their approach to consulting assignments, quality of consultants and cost-effectiveness… (NESC’s) attention to the client results in an efficient delivery of the service and in a high-quality final product… NESC charges a fair consulting rate that is significantly below the value that is added to the client.

Jesús M. Amadeo
Senior Vice President
MDRC

NESC did a great job for Grace Church and Grace Church School [in facilities management] not once, but twice. The consultants were knowledgeable. They learned about us and what made our situation unique and came up with an ingenious solution that has been successful here and a model for others. They did such a good job that when changes in the way our organization operated rendered an update necessary, we did not hesitate to call them back in. The result was every bit as good.

George Davison
Headmaster

We find that NESC consultants bring professionalism and expertise to each project they undertake as well as in-depth understanding of our organization and the challenges we face. We look forward to a continuing productive and mutually beneficial association with NESC.

NESC has been providing consulting support services to Outreach since 1996. During this time you have conducted 11 consultancies, with the 12th about to start. What we find most gratifying in our relationship is the wide range of experience NESC brings to us in meeting the many challenges we face. The areas in which you have given us support include strategic planning, organizational audit, branding & marketing, cost management and human resources.

Your work has proven very beneficial to us because your consultants work very closely with our staff. This results in a collaborative effort that delivers realistic recommendations/plans that address our needs, while reflecting our point of view as well as factoring in the environment within which we operate.

As I was trying to answer the questions [on the NESC end-of-project form], I realized that it can never convey the debt I owe you for your services well beyond the call of duty. Each page of the WDS Project Review that you prepared for us contains important information and valuable insights. Your initial recommendations include a number of steps that the Museum can take within the year.

One participant in the Pilot Directors Program sponsored by Connecticut Humanities Council said: "The Pilot Program was a huge success and we will be continuing our cooperative relationship as we move forward solving common problems."

I have had the privilege of receiving the highest quality, professional work from the talented members of NESC for a total of 10 projects since 1984; first as a superintendent of schools and most recently as the president of an educational not-for-profit member organization. Their work was of the highest caliber, timely and affordable -- qualities that others can only hope to emulate. I recommend them with confidence, respect, admiration and without reservation.

David F. Clune
President and CEO

Thank you, NESC, for more than meeting our expectations in conducting the organizational analysis of REDC. We believe that the conclusions and recommendations reached through this process are not only valid, but also doable. The recommendations are fully aligned with the organization’s mission and goals. Through the implementation of several of the recommendations, REDC will become a stronger, more effective organization.

We are delighted to have had the opportunity to work with NESC and would certainly engage your consultants again if the need should arise and would recommend NESC to other organizations.

Holly Freedman
Former President and CEO
Rockland Economic Development Corporation

Your retreat resulted in a complete paradigm shift for me. Heretofore we, as a board, concentrated too much on the artistic and programming side and not enough on governance, management and financial revenue aspects. I then attended a conference with the very first workshop reinforcing what I learned at the retreat. I got it!

Treasurer, Board of Trustees

NESC-New Jersey conducted three separate shared services studies for three municipal government cooperatives in Bergen County. All three assignments pertained to the collaborations between municipalities’ Departments of Public Works. In total, the studies covered 39 communities. One recommendation alone is expected to save $450-$500,000 on the cooperative collection and disposal of leaves for 10 municipalities. In the submittal of the study to the Department of Community Affairs, one mayor noted that the NESC report was one of the best consulting reports he has read either in his professional career as an Engineer or during his tenure as Mayor. These sentiments were echoed by several other Mayors involved in the study.

Our joint project was a huge success! All three libraries have finished their plans and they have been published on the HRLC webpage. All three libraries have shared with me their happy satisfaction with the project, the process and the consultants. Congratulations to the consultants on a job well done.

Joanne P. Roukens, MLS
Executive Director

NESC has studied several of our employee compensation plans and recommended improvements since about 1990. I am impressed by NESC’s ability to work with our elected officials and labor relations staff to ensure that their recommendations are adopted and that our compensation plans continue to improve. In addition, working with NESC is extremely cost-effective; it provides an outstanding work product at very reasonable fees.

The Helene Fuld College of Nursing enjoys our long and ongoing relationship with National Executive Service Corps, commencing in 1989. The results of the projects NESC has completed for us, including fiscal management & accounting services, have always met our needs.

NESC has over the years understood the particular issues we were facing and was always able to recommend action plans promptly and as agreed. The consultants we’ve worked with are real professionals in all respects and have the practical business experience that enables them to deliver the benefits we expect. Working with NESC has been extremely fruitful and we are pleased to continue our collaboration.
