Corporate exposure to risk is an area of increasing concern to nonprofits and their boards. NESC's experienced consultants can provide an independent outside review of risk from both an operational and a strategic perspective, based on the unique characteristics of each client organization. Typical risk areas this review can address include:
Operational Functions:
- financial control
- data security
- human resources
Strategic Functions:
- competition
- service demand
- government restrictions
- management succession
In addition to identifying specific risks and their sources, NESC consultants, in close cooperation with the client team, will quantify the probability and importance of the identified risks, specific trigger events and appropriate mitigation strategies.
NESC recently completed an engagement assisting a New York-based education and social policy research organization in the development of a framework to assess and manage corporate risks. Our consultants interviewed senior and middle managers to identify strategic and operational risks, and provided tools to management to enable systematic ongoing tracking of these risks.
