Teams of NESC Consultants for several decades have been helping non-profit organizations in Hartford, Middlesex and New Haven counties.
As a nonprofit organization itself, NESC repeatedly has demonstrated its sensitivity to the budget, staffing and other resource constraints of its Central Connecticut clients, many of which are in the arts, culture, health and human services, education, religion and even in government.

Human Resources Review
Seeking to boost employee retention and to recruit new staff more effectively, a major human services group turned to NESC. After NESC human resource professionals conducted an extensive review of human resource policy, they wrote a personnel handbook which stressed the considerable value of employee benefits and subsequently helped with employee recruiting and retention.
Coaching
Among the eight NESC projects for a women's and girls' housing and education organization was a series of one-on-one coaching sessions with the incoming Executive Director, helping her to understand her role in executing the group's priorities.
Fiscal Rescue
Called in to help a residential program for pregnant teens that was in a severe and tightening financial bind and in organizational disarray, an NESC team assessed the client's operations and finances, recommended a series of changes and then worked with the board to introduce and monitor the recommendations.
A Strategic Plan to Sharpen Focus
While coaching the Executive Director of a Hartford group that develops affordable housing, NESC consultants identified fundamental problems within the organization. The NESC team then worked with the board to craft a strategic plan, which ultimately sharpened the organization's focus on its most critical initiatives.
Relocation Advice and a Master Plan
Working with a children's museum's executives and board members, who were concerned about how to achieve long-term initiatives, NESC crafted a Master Plan and a timeline for fulfilling the Plan and, importantly, proposed a mechanism for establishing accountability and monitoring progress. Additionally, to help the museum select a site for relocation, the NESC team developed an options analysis method and identified selection criteria.
Market Research
To address the problems of stagnant attendance and revenues at a historic house and museum, NESC marketing specialists researched the market, identified new target markets and proposed ways to boost attendance from existing markets.
Leadership Training for Executive Directors
NESC consultants worked with a major community foundation to train its grant recipients' executive directors to become more effective in reaching their goals, addressing issues and in developing business-style competencies.
Setting Priorities
An NESC team helped the executives and board of a child care center set priorities and develop an action timeline for an existing strategic plan.
Management and Marketing Advice
NESC experts in marketing, management, organizational structure and public relations recommended ways for a historic ship and floating classroom to expand its operations, boost its public image and function more efficiently and effectively.
