Helping needy children, feeding the homeless, providing literary tools, connecting communities: these words encapsulate the mission of social service agencies. These agencies provide help to people and communities in need. NESC shares a similar mission; that is, to help the needs of management in the nonprofit community.
For over 30 years NESC has offered cost-effective consultation for the management of hundreds of not-for-profit organizations. Our volunteer consultants, who support the betterment of their communities, have business experience that can fit the needs of social service agencies.
More than ever, nonprofits have to stretch their resources by operating more stringently, efficiently and effectively. Dedicated to helping social service organizations succeed, the NESC nonprofit Social Services Consulting sector can help nonprofits benefit from our experience.

Strategic Plan
The NESC consulting team assisted a nonprofit organization, dedicated to helping Chinese orphans, develop strategic alliances and expand its donor base. The planning process started with the goals that had already been set by the organization: to establish a hub of medical and educational services in China for the identified population -- the orphaned and abandoned children in China.
Social Enterprise/Earned Income
NESC conducted a costing analysis for a nonprofit organization to expand its wheelchair repair services activity into a profitable social enterprise business activity for the nonprofit. After intensely reviewing the activities, meeting with executives and key players, NESC prepared a Business Plan detailing how the operation could expand its market, effectively price its services and define its geographic service zone.
Facilities Plan
For a Manhattan-based group outgrowing its facilities, NESC space planners and architects evaluated the organization's space needs and then drafted a detailed Action Plan for buying and moving into larger quarters, which reduced occupancy costs.
Marketing Plan
For an international membership-based organization seeking to increase its membership, NESC consultants surveyed prior, existing and potential members. Utilizing the results of the survey, recommendations were made for ways to increase membership and retain existing members.
Feasibility Study
For a New York/New Jersey parks system in need of a long-term strategy and fundraising plan, NESC consultants analyzed the organization and the environment in which it operates (including assessing its competition for funding) and then prepared a feasibility study demonstrating the viability of a major capital campaign.
Management Training
A Long Island human services organization sought to improve the supervisory and management skills of its staff. To address this need, NESC designed and constructed a series of training modules.
Executive Search
A large social service organization, which had culturally and operationally neglected comprehensive fundraising for years, asked NESC to recruit a new VP of Development who would build a sophisticated development strategic plan and capabilities.
